Hairstyles from the catwalk

Everybody has got hair issues. I know I have. The right outfit defines who you are but if your hair is wack what does that say about you….So your hair also tells us something about you too.

Thinking about getting my hair done I really did not know what the hot hairdo’s are for this spring and summer.

The hairtrends from the catwalk for this summer are:

Cherry Bomb Drawing from the decadence of the Seventies, this sexy, sassy look sees frothy, candyfloss curls come just the right side of frizzy for a finish of epic proportions. Looking to Jerry Hall, Angelica Houston and early Debbie Harry for inspiration, 2011 sees this iconic era given a modern twist á la Marc Jacobs and Topshop Unique. The bigger, the better – so don’t be shy.

Sunkissed Sass On the seemingly sun-drenched catwalks of Anna Sui and Michael Kors, beachy texture and sea salt-sprayed tresses reign supreme this summer, while brassy sun-bleached slices with creamy, vanilla hues defined cool colour. The key is to be free.

Slick Androgyny Chic While the wild likes of Marc Jacobs and Topshop were rocking out with Seventies-inspired candyfloss froth, the ever-classic likes of Gucci, Versace and Prada showcased a decidedly sleeker silhouette, with slicked-back sisters strutting the catwalks with gender-bending confidence. Side-parting, strong lines and wet-look finishes are key.

Ballerina Buns Prim and proper top knots are HUGE this season, thanks to Natalie Portman’s award-winning turn in 2011’s hottest flick, Black Swan. Buns were big and bold, worn high at Oscar de la Renta, and low at Nina Ricci. However you wear yours this spring/summer, just be sure to wear it!

Braidy Bunch Spring/summer hair is notorious for fun, flirty and feminine styles, and 2011 brings no exception. From the ‘halo’ hair of Erdem, hippie-chic random braiding at Charlotte Ronson and body-beautiful, side-swept plaits á la Lela Rose, this is the season to go GIRLY.

Dip Dye/ Ombre Celebrity hair trend alert! For this season’s hottest colour trend, simply look to the stars. ‘Ombre’ – meaning graduated colour from darker at the roots to lighter at the ends, creates a natural, sexy, carefree look. Outlandish popstrals Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry have all opted for dip-dyed shades of bubblegum pink, lilac and pastel blues, while more sedate style icons Drew Barrymore, Rachel Bilson and Alexa Chung have been rocking more ‘natural‘ hues.
