Everybody is talking about Galliano being fired from Dior but we cannot forget what Galiano has done for Dior.
It all began at the end of 1996, LVMH executives decided they wanted Galliano to move from Givenchy to the house of Dior. He presented his first couture collection for the storied brand on January 20, 1997, to widespread acclaim and best hopes a prosperous future there.
Galliano’s dresses and suits were creative. His references to everything from African tribes to baroque scroll work to Native American beading (and even chinoiserie) were refreshingly inventive. The clothes were diverse, and so were the models who sauntered down the runway in them. Look at the designs, I can still wear it today! It is most definitely not outdated.
